OCC Denies Wise's U.S. National Trust Bank Charter Application

The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency denied Wise Group's application for a national trust bank charter. Wise, a London-listed payment processor, disclosed the denial on Jul 24, 2026. The company said the OCC's letter referenced historical issues with the original application that Wise has been addressing.

Wise plans to submit a new application incorporating changes to its business and feedback from the OCC since the original filing more than a year ago. The denial does not affect the company's normal operations, Wise said.
