Zaria Files for National Trust Bank Charter with OCC for Asset-Backed Lending
Zaria Systems filed an application with the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency on Aug 5, 2026, to charter Zaria National Trust Bank as a special-purpose national bank limited to trust company activities. The proposed bank would provide corporate trustee services for ABS, CLO, and other structured finance transactions, along with agency services, loan servicing, collateral management, and backup servicing. Its principal office would be in Jackson, Wyoming.
Zaria has already begun providing servicing, collateral management, and agency infrastructure to structured finance and digital asset lenders ahead of the filing. That work would consolidate under the new bank upon charter approval. The proposed board and management team include professionals with backgrounds at BNY Mellon, Wilmington Trust, Moody's, Barclays, Morgan Stanley, and several other financial institutions and regulators.
- A trust-only charter focused on digital asset-backed loan servicing represents a new niche in the fintech charter landscape, potentially inspiring similar narrow-scope applications.
- The growing volume of fintech trust charter applications signals maturing demand for regulated infrastructure in the digital asset lending and securities market.
