UniCredit Partners with Accenture and IBM to Modernise Banking Infrastructure

UniCredit announced a partnership with Accenture and IBM on Aug 04, 2026 to design a next-generation banking technology platform and operating model. The three companies will jointly develop an approach that gives UniCredit greater control over the evolution of its technology infrastructure. As part of the agreement, Accenture will acquire from IBM the majority stake in a joint venture that currently manages a large portion of UniCredit's technology systems.

IBM will supply modernised technology platforms to UniCredit, including IBM Z systems, software, and consulting services. The companies described the deal as the starting point of a multi-year programme to update the bank's underlying systems. Completion remains subject to customary closing conditions, including regulatory approvals.

Financial terms were not disclosed.
