Treasury Prime Partners with Marqeta to Add Card Issuing to BaaS API
Treasury Prime partnered with Marqeta in February 2021 to integrate modern card issuing capabilities into its Banking as a Service API, allowing fintech developers to issue, activate, and manage the entire card lifecycle from the same interface they used for other banking services. The integration went live initially with LendingClub Bank, National Association (successor to Radius Bank) and was scheduled to launch with Piermont Bank in March 2021. Treasury Prime's role in the partnership included program management services such as network agreements, BIN management, fraud detection tools, and custom card design, printing, packaging, and shipping services.
Challenger, a neobank enabling employers to sponsor financial services for their employees, became the first banking product built on the Treasury Prime and Marqeta integration at LendingClub Bank. Challenger cited the partners' modern and scalable infrastructure as enabling them to build faster to meet growing user needs. The partnership strengthened Treasury Prime's BaaS offering by adding a key card issuing layer from Marqeta, one of the leading modern card issuing platforms, reducing the need for fintechs to manage multiple vendor integrations.
- Consolidation of BaaS capabilities into single-API platforms reduces integration complexity for fintechs and accelerates time to market
- Partnership model between BaaS middleware providers and specialist card issuers like Marqeta sets a template for modular embedded finance stacks
