Tala and El Dorado Embed USDT-Denominated Credit in Digital Wallet in Bolivia

Tala, a US-based credit infrastructure provider, announced a partnership with El Dorado to embed USDT-denominated credit inside El Dorado's Latin American digital wallet. The service launches first in Bolivia before expanding to other markets in the region. Tala contributes capital, assumes credit risk, and underwrites customers using proprietary AI trained on behavioural and alternative data.

El Dorado provides the distribution channel and existing customer relationships. Loans are disbursed and repaid in USDT, with settlement occurring onchain via the Tempo blockchain. The partnership is Tala's first deployment of its direct disbursement model.

Bolivia's consumer credit accounts for just 10% of all bank loans, and more than eight in ten workers are informally employed, leaving most without the documentation traditional lenders require.
