RBC and BMO Sell Moneris Solutions to Francisco Partners for C$2 Billion
Royal Bank of Canada and Bank of Montreal announced on Aug 10, 2026, that they have agreed to sell Moneris Solutions to Francisco Partners for approximately C$2 billion. Moneris, jointly owned by the two banks for roughly 25 years, provides merchant acquiring and payment processing services across Canada. Francisco Partners, a technology-focused private equity firm, will take full ownership of the company.
As part of the deal, RBC and BMO will each enter into exclusive, long-term customer referral arrangements with Moneris that take effect at closing. Francisco Partners is expected to invest in the growth and modernization of Moneris under its ownership. The transaction is subject to regulatory approval and customary closing conditions.
