Mastercard Acquires Stablecoin Infrastructure Firm BVNK for Up to $1.8B

Mastercard is set to acquire BVNK, a stablecoin infrastructure firm, for up to $1.8 billion. The deal gives Mastercard proven stablecoin plumbing rather than building the capability from scratch. On Jun 3, 2026, the company announced it would enable on-chain card settlements using regulated stablecoins, specifically USDC and PYUSD, allowing merchants to receive settlement in stablecoins instead of waiting for traditional fiat rails.

Mastercard also launched a Crypto Partner Program in Mar 2026, enrolling over 85 participants including Binance and PayPal. The company reported Q2 2026 results on Jul 30, 2026, showing a 21% year-over-year jump in net income. Q1 2026 net income reached $3.9 billion, an 18% increase from the prior year, with adjusted earnings per share of $4.60.
