Garanti BBVA Partners with Worldline for Cloud-Based Instant Payments

Garanti BBVA International, the trade and commodity finance subsidiary of Turkey's Garanti BBVA, announced a partnership with French paytech Worldline. The deal gives GBI access to a cloud-based instant payments solution for sending and receiving payments across the EU. It is designed to ensure compliance with the EU Instant Payments Regulation, which requires banks to offer instant payment capabilities.

Worldline contributes its cloud payments infrastructure, allowing GBI to modernize its payment rails without building in-house. Financial terms were not disclosed. The arrangement reflects a growing pattern of banks turning to paytech providers for core payment infrastructure rather than developing proprietary solutions.
