Galaxy Digital Applies for OCC National Trust Bank Charter
Galaxy Digital LP, a subsidiary of Galaxy Digital Inc., submitted an application to the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency on Oct 29, 2026, to establish Galaxy National Bank. The proposed institution would be a federally regulated national trust bank headquartered in New York. If approved, it would provide custody, trading, and staking services for digital assets, along with fiduciary investment advisory services, under OCC supervision.
Galaxy framed the charter as a way to consolidate several existing capabilities under a single federal framework. The company already holds more than 50 licenses across the U.S., Europe, and Asia, including SEC-registered broker-dealer subsidiaries and a CFTC-registered swap dealer. A Galaxy subsidiary also recently received a BitLicense and Money Transmission License from the New York State Department of Financial Services.
No timeline for an OCC decision has been disclosed.
