Flutterwave Is Acquiring an East African Bank

Flutterwave acquired Mono, an open banking firm that provides API-based financial data infrastructure. The deal adds account-to-account payment flows and instant identity verification to Flutterwave's existing payments platform. Mono's technology enables authenticated, data-led payment methods across the continent.

Flutterwave described the acquisition as part of its strategy to build an interoperable financial system for Africa. The two companies will maintain their core products and services but operate under a shared vision. Mono's customers gain access to Flutterwave's payment rails, while Flutterwave users gain open banking capabilities including faster onboarding and deeper security layers.
