DCBank and Platform Calgary Launch $1M Annual Fintech Award Program

On November 2, 2021, Digital Commerce Bank (DCBank), a Schedule 1 Canadian bank specializing in technology-driven payment and banking-as-a-service solutions, announced a partnership with Platform Calgary to launch an annual $1 million Fintech Award program. DCBank serves as the title sponsor, committing $1 million over four years in non-dilutive funding to fintech startups. The top applicant will receive $500,000, with the second and third runners-up each receiving $250,000.

Beyond funding, winners will receive mentoring, programming, and access to discounted DCBank services. The application process was scheduled to begin in Q1 2022, with efforts underway to attract additional sponsors. The program is designed to foster local fintech innovation and strengthen Calgary's position as a global technology hub, leveraging DCBank's BaaS capabilities headquartered in the city.
