Backbase Acquires Kasisto to Add Agentic AI to Its Banking OS
Backbase announced on Jun 23, 2026, that it has acquired Kasisto, an agentic AI company built for banking and financial services. Kasisto's agentic platform and New York-based team are now embedded in the Backbase AI-native Banking OS. The acquisition targets a gap Backbase identified in how banks deploy AI: isolated agents that answer questions without resolving customer intent end to end.
With Kasisto integrated, banks on the platform can deploy governed AI agents that handle the full arc from customer intent to resolution across chat, messaging, and voice. The deal also strengthens Backbase's position in the US, which it calls its largest growth market, by uniting complementary customer bases across North America. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Backbase CEO Jouk Pleiter said the acquisition moves the company "decisively into the era where customers express intent naturally and the bank resolves it through governed, intelligent execution."
