Worldline and OPP Launch Embedded Payments for European Platforms and Marketplaces
Announced on October 9, 2024, Worldline and Online Payment Platform (OPP) introduced a new embedded payments solution specifically designed for platforms and marketplaces operating across Europe. The product offers turnkey capabilities including split payments, escrow services, mediation tools, multi-currency support, and regulatory compliance features. Worldline contributes its large-scale payment processing infrastructure and European banking relationships, while OPP brings its platform-focused payment orchestration technology.
For platform customers, the solution eliminates the need to build and maintain payment compliance and processing capabilities in-house. The product was showcased at an industry event on October 22, 2024. Financial terms of the partnership were not disclosed.
This launch addresses the European market's specific regulatory complexity, including PSD2 compliance requirements for marketplace payments. The partnership strengthens Worldline's position in the embedded finance ecosystem as it competes with Adyen, Stripe, and other payment infrastructure providers targeting the platform economy.
- Intensifies competition among payment processors for European platform and marketplace embedded finance
- Demonstrates growing demand for compliant, turnkey embedded payment infrastructure in the EU regulatory environment
