Visa, _able, and Onafriq Collaborate to Expand Credit via Flex Credential
Visa, _able, and Onafriq announced a partnership on Aug 24, 2026, to expand credit access across the Central Europe, Middle East, and Africa region using Visa Flex Credential. The technology allows card issuers to link multiple funding sources, including debit, prepaid, and credit, to a single card credential. Financial institutions can extend credit to customers through their existing eligible debit and prepaid credentials without issuing a separate card product.
Onafriq will provide payment processing for eligible prepaid card implementations, connecting issuers to its pan-African payments infrastructure via a proprietary companion card platform integrated with _able's system. _able contributes its credit enablement infrastructure, already deployed across banking and mobile money channels, to support card-based use cases. Financial terms were not disclosed.
