Utimaco, a cybersecurity and HSM provider, and BPC, a payments technology company known for its SmartVista platform, announced an expanded partnership on October 7, 2020. The collaboration focuses on delivering secure cloud-based As-a-Service payment solutions that combine BPC's card management and payment processing capabilities with Utimaco's hardware security modules. The partnership is designed to support compliance with PSD2 and open banking standards, which are critical for BaaS and embedded finance models.

By offering these services in a cloud-native, as-a-service model, the partners aim to lower barriers for banks and fintechs seeking to launch or modernize payment infrastructure. BPC's SmartVista platform already serves clients globally including partnerships like that with Robinsons Bank in the Philippines for financial inclusion. Financial terms of the expanded partnership were not disclosed.

The move reflects a broader industry trend toward cloud-hosted, white-label payment platforms that enable Banking-as-a-Service delivery.
