U.S. Bank Expands AWS Partnership to Migrate Core Banking and Payments Systems
U.S. Bank announced on Aug 22, 2026 that it is expanding its collaboration with Amazon Web Services to migrate hundreds of core banking applications to the AWS cloud. The multi-year initiative covers payment processing systems, wealth management platforms, and commercial banking applications.
U.S. Bank plans to use Amazon Bedrock and Amazon Nova Sonic to build generative AI features across its operations. The bank will also deploy Amazon Connect to deliver AI-driven, agent-based self-service across voice, chat, and SMS channels around the clock.
The effort serves a network of approximately 13 million consumers and 1.4 million business clients. U.S. Bank is taking a progressive, business-line-by-business-line approach to the migration rather than a single cutover.
Financial terms of the expanded partnership were not disclosed.
