Unit Partners with Thread Bank for Embedded Banking Services
On August 11, 2022, BaaS startup Unit announced a partnership with Thread Bank, a Tennessee-based institution, to offer embedded banking services. The collaboration enables Unit's fintech clients to access accounts, cards, payments, and lending products through Thread Bank's charter. The deal forms part of Unit's broader multi-bank BaaS strategy, giving its platform clients additional flexibility and redundancy in their banking relationships.
Unit's existing clients include notable companies such as AngelList and HoneyBook, which use the platform to embed financial services into their products. Financial terms were not disclosed. The partnership reflects the growing trend among BaaS providers to establish relationships with multiple sponsor banks to reduce concentration risk and expand product offerings.
