KFTC and Trustonic Launch Embedded OTP Authentication for Korean Banks
Korea Financial Telecommunications and Clearings Institute (KFTC) launched a secure OTP (one-time password) authentication service for mobile banking in collaboration with Trustonic and Mirae Technology. KDB Bank was the first financial institution to integrate the embedded security solution, which was subsequently made available to other banks across Korea. The service leveraged Trustonic's Secured Platform technology, which was already embedded in over 2 billion devices worldwide, providing hardware-level security for mobile banking authentication.
The partnership addressed growing security concerns in Korea's rapidly expanding mobile banking sector. KFTC served as the national clearing and settlement infrastructure provider, making this deployment significant for the entire Korean banking ecosystem. Trustonic contributed its trusted execution environment technology while Mirae Technology handled local integration.
The initiative represented a notable example of embedded security infrastructure being deployed at national scale for banking services.
- National-level embedded security infrastructure for banking can accelerate mobile finance adoption across an entire market
- Hardware-level authentication embedded in devices provides a scalable BaaS-style security layer for financial institutions
