Tink Launches Open Banking API Platform for Developers

On April 18, 2018, Swedish open banking fintech Tink announced the launch of its API platform designed to give developers access to aggregated financial data from banks. The platform provides capabilities including account aggregation, transaction categorization, and financial data enrichment. By exposing bank data through standardized APIs, Tink enables third-party developers and fintechs to embed financial services and data into their own applications.

The launch positioned Tink as a key infrastructure player in the emerging European open banking ecosystem, particularly as PSD2 regulations were driving banks to open up access to customer data. The platform supports integration with multiple banks, reducing the complexity for developers who would otherwise need to build individual bank connections. This initiative represented an important early step in the BaaS and embedded finance infrastructure layer that would grow significantly in subsequent years.
