RS2 Selected for European Central Bank Digital Euro Pilot
RS2 launched Beyond by RS2 on Mar 17, 2026, a sponsored issuer and acquiring program for fintechs, platforms, and payment providers in Europe. The program runs on RS2's cloud-native BankWORKS platform and operates under RS2's Electronic Money Institution license in Germany. Partners can issue cards and process merchant payments without holding their own banking license or direct card scheme membership.
RS2 holds principal memberships with Visa and Mastercard, which underpin the program's card rails. Beyond by RS2 combines card issuing and merchant acquiring on a single platform, a departure from providers that offer only one side. Target clients include ISVs, payment facilitators, fintechs, and digital banks.
RS2 says the regulatory framework allows partners to launch new payment programs in months rather than years.
