RCBC and PDAX Partner to Explore Tokenized Gold via Digital Banking
PDAX and RCBC signed a Memorandum of Understanding to develop digital asset infrastructure exploring tokenization of different assets, starting with gold through RCBC's mobile banking channels. The partnership is exploratory at this stage, with no binding product commitments or financial terms disclosed. PDAX has been working to expand beyond standard cryptocurrency trading, having already offered access to tokenized government bonds.
RCBC brings its existing digital banking platform, which the bank has been building out as part of a broader push toward digital financial services. The collaboration pairs a BSP-regulated digital asset exchange with one of the Philippines' established commercial banks. If the exploration advances to a product launch, RCBC customers could access gold-backed digital tokens directly through the bank's mobile app.
