Pacific National Bank to Launch Digital Bank on Nymbus SmartLaunch BaaS Platform
Pacific National Bank announced it would launch a new digital-only bank built on the Nymbus SmartLaunch Banking-as-a-Service platform. Nymbus provides the end-to-end technology stack including core banking, digital account opening, and customer-facing interfaces, enabling PNB to deploy the digital bank within an ambitious 90-day timeline. The SmartLaunch platform is designed to allow traditional banks to stand up independent digital brands without disrupting their legacy core systems.
For PNB, the partnership represents a strategic move to capture digitally native customers and compete with challenger banks and neobanks. Nymbus contributes its cloud-native banking infrastructure while PNB provides the banking charter and regulatory framework. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The initiative reflects a broader 2019 trend of community and regional banks turning to BaaS platforms to modernize their digital offerings rapidly.
- Demonstrates growing demand from community banks for turnkey BaaS platforms to launch digital brands without replacing legacy cores
- Validates the SmartLaunch model of rapid digital bank deployment, potentially lowering barriers for other small banks to enter digital banking
