Open Payments Raises 1.3M EUR Seed for PSD2 Open Banking API Platform

Open Payments announced a 1.3 MEUR (approximately $1.45M USD) seed funding round led by Luminar Ventures. The company provides a PSD2-compliant platform that offers a single API enabling account-to-account payments and financial data retrieval, core infrastructure for open banking and embedded finance use cases. The platform's white-label capability allows banks and fintechs to offer open banking services under their own brands.

Funds will be deployed toward expanding operations across the Nordic region and broader EU market. Open Payments operates as a BaaS-style intermediary, abstracting the complexity of connecting to multiple bank APIs into a unified developer-friendly interface. This positions the company within the growing European open banking ecosystem driven by PSD2 regulatory requirements.

The round reflects investor appetite for infrastructure players that simplify bank-fintech connectivity in the EU.
