Moov Financial Raises $5.5M Seed for Open-Source BaaS Platform

Moov Financial announced a $5.5 million seed round in August 2020 to advance its open-source embedded banking platform. The round was led by Bain Capital Ventures, with participation from Canapi Ventures, Commerce Ventures, Gradient Ventures, RRE Ventures, Uncorrelated Ventures, Veridian Credit Union, and 27 angel investors. Moov provides a single API that allows companies to deploy financial services including receiving funds, storing value, and handling remittances.

The platform emphasizes a developer-first, portable, and modular approach to Banking-as-a-Service. Funds were earmarked for community building, engineering team expansion, product roadmap acceleration, and deepening partnerships. The breadth of investor participation, spanning venture capital firms, a credit union, and numerous angels, signals strong market interest in open-source BaaS infrastructure.

Moov's approach differentiates itself in the BaaS landscape by prioritizing developer tooling and open-source accessibility.
