Maximum Raises $30M Seed to Replace Legacy Bank Infrastructure with AI
Maximum emerged from stealth on Aug 03, 2026, with a $30 million seed round, one of the largest seed financings in fintech. CRV led the round, with participation from Pear VC, Restive, Plug and Play Ventures, Anthemis, and others. Founder Randy Fernando previously built and sold Vault to Acorns in 2017 and Power to Marqeta in 2023.
Maximum is building an AI-native operating system designed to replace the fragmented, decades-old core infrastructure that powers most US banks. The company says more than 70% of nearly five thousand US banks still run on legacy core systems built in the last century. Its real-time platform uses AI at a foundational level, enabling banks to deploy custom agents for automating workflows, monitoring customer activity, and launching new financial products.
Maximum has already drawn interest from larger community and regional banks, with plans to serve institutions of all sizes over time.
