Mastercard Launches BIN Sponsor Plus Program in the UK

Mastercard introduced its BIN Sponsor Plus initiative in the UK market, designed to elevate the quality and consistency of sponsor bank partnerships that underpin fintech card programs. The program accredited four founding sponsor banks: Transact Pay, PSI Pay, IDT Financial Services, and Edenred Payment Solutions. Each sponsor bank gains access to enhanced training, standardized operational frameworks, and deeper integration with Mastercard's broader ecosystem.

For fintechs, the program lowers barriers to launching card products by providing a vetted pathway through accredited BIN sponsors rather than requiring full issuer licenses. The initiative reflects Mastercard's broader strategy to formalize and strengthen the BaaS layer that connects card networks with non-bank issuers. Financial terms of the program were not disclosed.
