Mambu Raises $266M Series E at $5.5B Valuation Led by EQT Growth
Mambu, a Berlin-based SaaS cloud banking platform, closed a €235 million (~$266 million) Series E funding round in December 2021, led by EQT Growth, at a valuation of €4.9 billion (~$5.5 billion). The round represented the largest private fundraise to date for a banking software platform. Mambu's composable banking platform enables banks and fintechs to deploy modern core banking infrastructure via APIs, positioning it firmly within the Banking-as-a-Service ecosystem.
The company reported more than 120% year-on-year revenue growth in Q3 2021, underscoring strong market demand for cloud-native banking technology. Mambu serves over 200 customers across Europe, North America, Asia Pacific, the Middle East, and Latin America. The funding is expected to accelerate Mambu's global expansion and product development as financial institutions increasingly migrate away from legacy core banking systems.
The round signals continued investor confidence in the BaaS infrastructure layer, which underpins embedded finance offerings worldwide.
- Validates strong investor appetite for cloud-native core banking infrastructure that powers BaaS and embedded finance offerings
- Intensifies competition among BaaS infrastructure providers such as Thought Machine, Temenos, and Finastra as cloud migration accelerates
