Migrant Banking Platform Majority Raises $20M in Fifth Funding Round

Majority, a fintech providing mobile banking services to migrant communities, closed a $20 million funding round on May 23, 2024, structured as $12.5 million in equity and $7.5 million in debt. The round was led by seasoned fintech founders including Klarna co-founder Victor Jacobsson, Hjalmar Winbladh of Ark Kapital, and iZettle co-founders Magnus Nilsson and Jacob de Geer. Existing investors Avid Ventures, Valar Ventures, and Heartcore Capital participated as follow-on backers.

This marks the company's fifth funding round as it scales its embedded banking platform targeting underserved migrant populations. The capital is earmarked for operational improvements and a push toward profitability. Majority also announced the appointment of a new chief risk officer as part of its maturation efforts.

The platform operates with BaaS-style architecture, offering mobile banking, money transfers, and related financial services to its customer base.
