JCB and MUFG Bank Form Strategic Alliance for ASEAN Digital Payments
JCB and MUFG Bank signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Jul 06, 2026, establishing a partnership across the ASEAN region. The alliance combines JCB's global payment network and merchant infrastructure with MUFG Bank's partner bank relationships, digital business investments, and financial infrastructure in Southeast Asia. Both companies will target affluent customer segments by linking card products with financial services such as deposits and investments.
As an initial step, the partners plan to issue a new premium card in Indonesia during fiscal year 2026, ending March 2027. That card will be JCB's highest-tier product ever issued outside Japan. The two companies will also explore cross-border payment solutions and mobile services through MUFG's digital finance investees.
