Flywire and Trustly Launch Pay by Bank in U.S. and Canada

On Aug 12, 2026, Flywire announced an expansion of its partnership with Trustly to deliver open banking "Pay by Bank" payments in the U.S. and Canada. The integration lets payers authorize high-value domestic and cross-border payments via ACH and Pre-Authorized Debit directly from their bank accounts in local currency. The system uses bank login credentials and real-time balance checks to reduce friction compared to traditional wire and ACH methods.

It also minimizes reversals on cross-border flows and adds pricing and timeline transparency within Flywire's interface. The relationship between the two companies dates to 2017, when they first partnered in Europe. Financial terms were not disclosed.
