FI.SPAN Partners with JP Morgan Chase for Cloud-Based API Banking Services

FI.SPAN, a Canadian fintech specializing in cloud-based API infrastructure, announced a partnership with JP Morgan Chase in late 2018. Under the arrangement, FI.SPAN provides its API platform to enable JP Morgan Chase to integrate third-party fintech solutions into its business banking offerings, particularly in payment and cash management. The partnership supports pilot programs aimed at corporate treasurers who require seamless access to fintech innovations within their existing banking relationships.

FI.SPAN CEO Lisa Shields emphasized that the model allows banks to retain customers while expanding their product capabilities through fintech integrations. This was one of four similar partnerships FI.SPAN secured with top U.S. banks, signaling strong institutional interest in API-driven banking infrastructure. The collaboration aligns with BaaS principles by enabling banks to offer white-label, modular fintech services without building capabilities in-house.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
