Brex Launches Brex Embedded API Platform for Global B2B Payments

On September 18, 2024, Brex announced the launch of Brex Embedded, a new API-driven platform that allows B2B software vendors to integrate virtual corporate cards and global payment capabilities directly into their products. The platform eliminates the need for software companies to handle underwriting or credit risk, with Brex managing those functions behind the scenes. Brex Embedded targets key verticals including procurement, travel, and ERP software, partnering with firms such as Sabre and Coupa to deliver the offering.

Virtual cards issued through the platform feature up to 40x higher spending limits compared to traditional corporate cards, along with rewards programs and support for local currencies in more than 50 countries. The solution dramatically reduces customer onboarding timelines from months to days and automates reconciliation processes. This positions Brex as a direct competitor in the embedded payments space, challenging other BaaS providers by offering a turnkey global payments infrastructure for non-financial software companies.
