ABN AMRO Launches Multi-Banking in Grip App via Tink Partnership

ABN AMRO partnered with open banking platform Tink to add multi-banking capabilities to its Grip personal finance management app. The integration used PSD2-compliant APIs to allow Grip users to view and manage accounts held at Rabobank, ICS, SNS, Bunq, and ABN AMRO within a single interface. Grip, already the largest personal finance management app in the Netherlands with over 700,000 users, automatically categorizes income and expenses and supports budget tracking.

The multi-banking feature transformed Grip from a standalone ABN AMRO tool into a broader embedded banking platform. For the first time, the app could serve non-ABN AMRO customers, significantly expanding its addressable market. ABN AMRO planned to add support for additional Dutch banks over time.

The launch made Grip one of the first apps in the Netherlands to utilize open banking technology in a consumer-facing product.
